Hansford Herald - 2025 Highlights

Image
Greetings to one and all  Can't believe we are closing out this whirlwind year already! 2025 has seen lots of changes for the Hansford family. Making up for not getting to the beach for a while, we made two visits to Manzanita this year. Brian and Elizabeth also road tripped to Colorado, and adventured around our region. This year continues job changes for everyone in the family too. Travel pics below after kid updates.     After graduation and his Italy adventure, Conner started full-time last year at Boeing Space where he had interned for two summers putting his mechanical engineering skills to good use. Alas, the space programs were cancelled in January of this year, but he was moved over to other areas within the company. Hope is that someday the space work will return but in the meantime he continues to work on different projects he's not at liberty to discuss with us. Much to Brian's dismay. This year he moved into a new place in West Seattle too. Greatly reducing...

Hansford Herald - 2024 Highlights

Well, 2024 sucked.   Just to get that out of the way. Yes, there were some great moments, but a large dark cloud loomed over much of it.   In early February, Brian's mother Nancy was diagnosed with glioblastoma - the most aggressive and most common type of brain cancer. And it sucks. Given it's generally aggressive nature and poor prognosis for anything slowing it down, Nancy opted for quality of life. So, February and March was lots of back and forth between Seattle and Ft. Collins for Brian and Elizabeth. Ben and Conner made trips when they could between work and school. In April, Brian and Elizabeth "mini-moved" to Ft. Collins to be closer to the family and help out as we could. Still very grateful to have been able to do that with remote work options. Nancy passed on July 6, 2025 at home surrounded by her family and lots and lots of love. In between then and February there were plenty of highlights including lots of time with family, laughs, and a few good cries ...

Greetings to one and all and the very best wishes for a wonderful holiday and new year! Yes, I'm late in getting out cards and getting these highlights posted, but I got the cards ordered before Christmas, so I'm calling it a WIN. This year was a very full and very photogenic one, so here we go... In January , Brian and Elizabeth continued their weekend getaways, heading over to the Lake Chelan area and staying at super cute guest house at Chelan Valley Farms . It was super relaxing and we spent some time checking out the area a bit more. In February , we journeyed back up to Langley for their 38th Annual "mystery weekend" - the theme of which was "The Herd Shot Round the World". The town was JUMPING! It was great fun to discover new things in the town we've been to several times now and see how that community comes together for this event. As they pointed out though, not all of the characters in town are part of the event. 🤣 We p...

Hansford Herald - 2022 Highlights

Looking back on 2022, it was a year of trying new things and going new places! For Christmas 2021, Elizabeth gave Brian a list of new things to try, so that set us off on our grand adventures. In January , we took a long weekend trip to Langley, WA on Whidbey Island - a great little town about a 45-minute drive and 20-minute ferry ride away. It's become our go-to for weekend getaways as it's easy to get to and the pace is slow. Off season is, of course, our favorite time and we made the trek back in October. We also tried our hand at axe throwing! It was fun and we both did surprisingly well for first timers.  As part of our, "do new things" approach to the new year, we took fly fishing lessons in  March . We first had a class session which include among other things, learning the lingo and how to tell what bugs are around at any given time. This was followed up with a hands-on session on the Snoqualmie River.  This was great preparation for our trip to the Yakima Riv...
